What are Nutshell toys made from?
Each material in our toys is chosen with intention. The outer fabric is a blend of 65% ramie linen and 35% cotton, making it soft to the touch and gentle on delicate skin. Inside, we use 100% recycled PET, giving plastic bottles a second life. This filling is hypoallergenic and moisture-resistant, ensuring our toys are safe from birth and meet the highest UK and EU safety standards.
How do I clean a Nutshell toy?
Simply hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent, then leave to air dry. Avoid machine washing or tumble drying. Thanks to the moisture-resistant recycled PET filling, each toy dries well and won’t hold onto dampness.
Are Nutshell toys safe for babies?
Yes, the full range is safe from birth. No plastic parts, no batteries, no small detachable pieces. Just soft, considered materials made to be held, cuddled and loved from day one.
Every toy has been independently tested, not self-certified, to UK and EU safety standards, carrying both the UKCA mark (UK) and CE mark (EU) under EN 71 regulations for mechanical safety, flammability, and chemical composition.
Where are Nutshell toys designed and made?
Designed in the UK and made in China by a carefully selected production partner chosen for their strong ethical credentials. The factory is a Sedex member and independently audited to SMETA standards, covering labour conditions, health and safety, environmental responsibility, and business ethics. We carried out thorough due diligence, including in-person meetings with the team, and chose to work together based on a clear alignment of values.
What sizes do Nutshell toys come in?
The collection comes in two sizes: small (≈10cm tall) and large (≈30cm tall). Our small toys arrive in their own beautifully illustrated keepsake tent box, perfectly sized for little hands and adventures on the go. One side of the tent reveals a sunny daytime scene, the other a starlit night-time setting for tucking your Nutshell friend up for hibernation. Collect more friends and you can set their tents up side by side for a magical woodland camping scene. Our large toys are generously sized for the perfect cuddle, designed for both adventurous companionship and comforting bedtime hugs.
Will there be new characters?
The Nutshell family is growing! We plan to add new characters seasonally which can be collected over time. This makes them a lovely gift to build on over birthdays and Christmases. Sign up to our mailing list to be the first to hear about new characters and upcoming launches.
